TeleHealth Visit

Dr. Brown offers HIPAA-compliant video consultations for appropriate oculoplastic conditions — so you can get expert guidance without the drive. Many patients from Pensacola, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and rural Alabama use TeleHealth for initial screening and follow-up care.

What Works Well for TeleHealth

  • Review of outside imaging (CT, MRI) or lab results
  • Second opinions on eyelid, orbital, or lacrimal diagnoses
  • Post-operative check-ins following uncomplicated procedures
  • Initial screening for ptosis, blepharoplasty, or ectropion
  • Thyroid Eye Disease monitoring during the inflammatory phase
  • Patients traveling from Pensacola, Mississippi, or rural areas

What Requires an In-Person Visit

  • !Acute infections, abscesses, or orbital cellulitis (go to ER or urgent care)
  • !Any condition requiring a slit-lamp exam or intraocular pressure check
  • !First consultation for a new mass or suspected tumor — requires in-person exam
  • !Surgery planning — pre-operative exam is always in-person
  • !Children requiring examination under anesthesia

How to Schedule a TeleHealth Visit

  1. 1

    Call or request online

Call our office at 251-650-5437 or use the appointment request form. Tell us you are interested in a TeleHealth visit — our staff will confirm whether your concern is appropriate.

  2. 2

    Provide outside records

If you have prior imaging (CT, MRI), pathology reports, or photos of your condition, send them to our office before the visit. Good lighting and a front-facing photo of your eyes help Dr. Brown prepare.

  3. 3

    Join the secure video link

We use a HIPAA-compliant video platform. You will receive a link by email or text before your appointment. No app download required — the visit runs in your web browser.

  4. 4

    Follow-up plan

At the end of the visit, Dr. Brown will outline next steps — whether that is a prescription, referral, in-office evaluation, or scheduling of a procedure.

Insurance & Payment

Many insurance plans cover TeleHealth visits at the same rate as in-person consultations. Coverage varies by plan. Our staff will verify your benefits before the visit. Self-pay rates are also available.
